Manganese Greensand – Advanced Iron & Manganese Removal Media

Product Overview

Manganese Greensand is a high-performance filtration media specifically designed to remove iron (Fe²⁺), manganese (Mn²⁺), and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) from water through a process of oxidation and filtration. Manufactured from glauconite greensand, this media effectively oxidizes contaminants, converting them into precipitates that are easily filtered out and removed by backwashing.

Once the oxidation capacity is exhausted, the media can be regenerated with potassium permanganate (KMnO₄), restoring its performance and ensuring long-term efficiency.

How It Works

🔹 Oxidation & Filtration: Soluble iron and manganese are oxidized upon contact with manganese dioxide-coated greensand granules.
🔹 Hydrogen Sulfide Removal: H₂S is oxidized to an insoluble sulfur precipitate.
🔹 Backwashing: Filters out the precipitates and restores media efficiency.
🔹 Regeneration: Requires 1.5 – 2.0 g of KMnO₄ per liter of media for effective regeneration.
