Description: The Rotameter works on the variable area principle: as fluid flows through a tapered tube, it raises a float, increasing the area for fluid passage. The higher the flow, the higher the float is raised. The height of the float is directly proportional to the flow rate. The float reaches a stable position when the upward force from the fluid flow equals the downward gravitational force exerted by the weight of the float.
