Product Overview
The DOW FILMTEC BW30-400 RO Membrane is an industrial-grade brackish water reverse osmosis membrane designed for water treatment systems requiring high permeate production and strong dissolved-salt rejection.
The BW30-400 uses a polyamide thin-film composite membrane in a spiral-wound configuration. Its 400 ft² (37 m²) active membrane area provides a high surface area for industrial RO applications, while the specified permeate flow is 10,500 GPD (40 m³/day) under standard test conditions.
The membrane has a 99.5% stabilized salt rejection specification and 99.0% minimum salt rejection. These performance figures are based on the manufacturer’s stated test conditions of 2,000 ppm NaCl, 225 psi, 25°C, pH 8 and 15% recovery; actual plant performance varies according to feed-water quality and operating conditions.
The 8040 membrane element has a nominal length of 40 inches (1,016 mm) and an outer diameter of approximately 7.9 inches (201 mm) and fits a nominal 8-inch pressure vessel.
