Description: The Rotameter operates on the variable area principle: as fluid flows through a tapered tube, it raises a float, thereby increasing the area for fluid passage. The higher the flow, the higher the float rises. The height of the float is directly proportional to the flow rate. The float reaches a stable position when the upward force from the flowing liquid equals the downward gravitational force of the float’s weight.
